New Reliquaries: post #3 of 3

Oh Turtle!

Why must you be so slow

In the road

On the hot pavement?

My friend Londa told me a long time ago that slow and steady wins the race. I know we’ve all heard this many times. It is in our cells. But when Londa said it, I knew it was true.

Turtle is slow and steady wins the race. It’s a used up, trite and mildewed group of words. Sad.

I adore turtle.

So important how her shell is her back.

All the time.

Let me glorify her.

And shred a tear for her banged up parts that lay in the road.

Crushed and jammed into her soft insides.

We’ve had several turtles, well actually they are gopher tortoise we have here, hit by cars and it saddens me every time I see them, what a wonderful tribute for them. Yesterday I saw three tortoise in our yard, they have come out of hibernating early this year.

  2. Yes, I would love to see those Florida gopher tortoise. I know their patterns are beautiful.
